Terms of Service

Last updated: 25 August 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of KeyEar (the "App"), a virtual piano and ear-training application. The App is operated by Rasmus Møller Larsen, a private individual based in Germany ("we", "us", "our"). By using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. The service

KeyEar lets you play a virtual piano with your mouse/touch, a connected MIDI device, or your microphone, and practice recognizing notes and intervals by ear. Most of the App runs entirely on your own device — see our Privacy Policy for details on what data, if any, is processed and where.

2. One-time purchase

KeyEar is unlocked with a single one-time purchase — not a subscription — at the price shown at checkout for your region and platform. There's no recurring billing and nothing to cancel; the unlock is permanent for as long as the App exists.

The purchase is processed by the relevant platform: Stripe on the web, the Apple App Store on iOS, or Google Play on Android. To let a single purchase unlock the App on all three platforms, we use RevenueCat to link your purchase to an email address you provide. We only use this email to identify your purchase across devices via a passwordless "magic link" — see our Privacy Policy for details on what's stored and by whom.

Refunds for purchases made through the App Store or Google Play are handled under Apple's and Google's own refund policies. For purchases made on the web, you can request a refund by contacting us at keyear.app@gmail.com.

Because KeyEar is digital content delivered instantly on purchase, you acknowledge and expressly consent that the App is unlocked immediately, and that — to the extent permitted under the law of your country of residence — you thereby lose any statutory withdrawal/cooling-off right that would otherwise apply to the purchase once it has been fully performed. Nothing here overrides any other statutory right you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of your country of residence, which continues to apply regardless of anything else in these Terms.

3. Your content

Any MIDI file you import, song you record, or audio you transcribe stays on your own device — we don't receive or store it. You're responsible for having the right to use any file you import.

4. Acceptable use

Don't use the App for anything unlawful, don't try to disrupt or reverse-engineer it beyond what's permitted by law, and don't use it to infringe someone else's rights.

5. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the App available and working, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change, suspend, or discontinue features over time.

6. Disclaimer and liability

The App is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. As an individual operator, our liability for damages is limited to what is legally permitted — in particular, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for intent or gross negligence).

7. Termination

You can stop using the App at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for a user who breaches these Terms.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, in particular once billing details are finalized. The "Last updated" date above will reflect the latest version.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by German law, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection provisions of your own country of residence that apply regardless of choice of law.
